Is a vulnerability assessment the same as penetration testing?
No. A vulnerability assessment identifies and prioritizes potential weaknesses. Penetration testing has a separately authorized scope for attempting to demonstrate exploitation. Confirm the systems, testing methods and disruption limits before either type of engagement.
